To be completely honest, I never saw these two as a pairing first time I watch K-On!.

Same with me, I didnt see those 2 that way when i first finished watching the series. Well yes they've got a really special bond indeed, but i saw it as best friend's deep relationship.

I read 'Besotted' also, yes (and beside it's awesomeness, its painfully looong that my eyes finally hurts at the middle of the night when i finished reading it from my laptop :p but good job anyway!). And I think I'm starting to lose my original concept of Mio & Ritsu as bestfriends..
